Conveyancer Solicitor – Luton / Oxford

Objective

To provide high quality legal advice and assistance for clients of the firm and contribute to maintaining high standards of client care.

You will handle files for freehold and leasehold properties from initial instructions through to completion, ensuring all enquiries have been dealt with, title issues accurately resolved, all searches carried out and checked mortgage conditions are satisfied.

You will also be preparing contracts and supporting documents, checking official copy documents, ensuring post completion is concluded accurately, using our case management system, handling client billing and liaise with clients, agents, borrowers, brokers, managers, buyers’ solicitors, internal departments and any others as necessary.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Fee earning experience essential within residential property – at least 4 to 5 years.
  • Sound legal knowledge within the conveyancing process
  • Experience of handling transfers of equity, remortgages, bridging, new builds, shared ownership leases and declarations of trust.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Experience with leasehold properties and corporate clients and buy-to-let and portfolio owners
  • A high level of attention to detail while working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Proactive with commercial and financial awareness

Key Tasks

  • Representation of clients in residential and commercial cases.
  • Maintain CQS Law Society accreditation and undertake necessary annual training as required by Law Society.
  • Maintain anti-money laundering and cybercrime knowledge in accordance with SRA Code and Law Society.
  • Supervisor compliance where applicable.
  • Receiving and directing telephone calls.
  • Ensuring file management in accordance with Quality Procedures Manual, LAA Contract, Lexcel and SQM requirements.
  • Liaising with clients in person and by telephone.
  • Liaising with others by telephone.
  • Compliance with SRA Code of Conduct and SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with Equality and Diversity Policy.
  • Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm.

Person Specification
