Objective
To provide high quality assistance for clients of the firm through efficient administrative functions and contribute to maintaining high standards of client care. To provide effective administrative support to the Partners.
Responsible to
- The Partners
- Head of Department/Supervisor
Key Tasks
- Conferencing with clients and taking instructions
- Clerking with counsel and attending court cases
- Using court portals to lodge applications
- Drafting letters, correspondence and documents through word processing – obtaining attendance notes and filing in clio
- Preparing letters and sending them out within 7 days of attendances
- Preparing witness statements
- Monitoring emails daily and informing fee earners key documents.
- Friday responsibilities – 1) check funding status of cases in the following week –2) calling /
emailing clients and loved ones about their court appearances the following week / informing
clients of medical assessments (date, time, location) - Receiving and directing telephone calls
- Diarising key dates – especially diarising first appearances matters in the court from remands
the previous night at the police station - Opening files – see procedure guide for doing this.
- Take call notes and save in communications on clio
- Photocopying documents
- Liaising with others by telephone
- Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Law degree or equivalent
- Empathy
- Personable manner
- Ability to deal with potentially difficult and demanding clients
- Reliability
- Trustworthy
- Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Computer literate
- Self-motivated
Desirable Skills & Experience
- LPC /SQE
- Police station qualification
- Previous experience in a legal office
- Advocacy skills
- Negotiation skills
Salary
£25,000 – £30,000 Depending on experience
